John M. Harrison “Jim” or “JM” 78, of Salem formally of Warsaw, IL died suddenly Saturday evening, February 28, 2004 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
Funeral Services have been set for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Tom Palmer officiating. Burial will be in the Salem South Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will begin at Noon Tuesday at the Beatty Funeral Home with family present from 6-8:00 P.M. A general memorial in the name of John Harrison has been established at the Funeral Home.
John was born July 10, 1925 in Williamstown, Missouri the son of Albert Roy and Anna Pearl (Morrow) Harrison. He was schooled in the Warsaw area and was united in marriage to Jean Immegart April 13, 1952 in Keokuk, Iowa.
He served during WWII in the Army in Japan. John farmed in the Warsaw area for many years and also worked at Wright Petroleum in Carthage for eighteen years. He enjoyed farming and any type of dancing.
Survivors include son John Harrison Jr. and wife Teresa of Warsaw and daughter Hilda Launer and husband Russell of Warsaw, special friend Opal Fuller of Salem and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Jean July 3, 1995.
