John T. Davila, Sr was born April 12, 1952 in Baltimore, MD.  He was the son of Angel and Gloria Davila. John died several days after having heart surgery at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City on March 6, 2011.

John graduated from Fernandina Beach High School in Florida.  He served in the Marine Corp, U.S. Army, Air Force and National Guard for 14 years.  John and Beverly Hinson were married in South Carolina on August 6, 1982.

John's special interests were Shiloh church, politics, and American history.

John was employed as a machine operator at LOPREX in Iowa City for nine years.

John is survived by his wife, Beverly, three sons John and wife Kelli Davila, Jr of Yorkville, IL, Dan Davila of Kalona and David Davila and fiancAC. Tiana of Iowa City and one daughter Anna and husband Mike Watkins of Des Moines, IA.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Michael III, Joshua, Isaiah, and Justin Watkins, Aaron, Jaidan, Rob, Victoria, and Akili Davila.  His mother Gloria Davila of Midloathian, VA survives also.

John was preceded in death by his father and granddaughter Tatayana Watkins.

A general memorial fund has been established.

John's family is very grateful for the many kindnesses extended to them during their sudden loss.  Your love and prayers will always be remembered.
