Johenry Mast

Johenry Mast, 81 of Mt. Pleasant, formally of Wayland, died Saturday, June 17, 2006 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at the Wayland Mennonite Church with Pastor Gerry Klopfenstein officiating. Burial will be in the Center Township Cemetery east of Wayland. Visitation will begin at Noon Tuesday at the Wayland Mennonite Church with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 in the evening. Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland is assisting with arrangements. Memorials in the name of Johenry Mast may be designated to the Waco Boosters.
Mr. Mast was born April 23, 1925 in Washington Co. Iowa the son of Paul and Mildred (Zingg) Mast. He graduated from Wayland High School in 1942 and was united in marriage to Lucille Keith December 3, 1942 at her parent’s home.
Johenry was a member of the Wayland Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge in Wayland and was Past-President of the Iowa State Custodial Board. He was also involved with the Wayland Christmas lights, dedicated Mayor for twelve years and helped start the Wayland Museum. Johenry lived around Wayland all his life; he farmed and did carpentry work, ran a restaurant and gas station, and retired from WACO as custodian following fifteen years of service.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, was an avid cubs fan and collector of many things. He also enjoyed WACO sports and watching his grandchildren participate in sports, Johenry loved sharing a good story and his sense of humor with family and friends, he truly loved life and those around him.
Survivors include his wife Lucille of Mt. Pleasant, children Gary Mast and wife Carol of Redland, CA, Steve Mast and wife Sharon of Sacramento, CA, Kathy Adrian and husband Rick of Mt. Pleasant and Lorrie Roth and husband Randy of Wayland, IA; eleven grandchildren, Stacy Mast, Kimberly Mast, Gary Troy Mast, Darren Blair, Derrick Blair, Taylor Mast, Tyler Mast, Cole Adrian, Christopher Adrian, Landon Roth and Kate Wilson; ten great-grandchildren, Joyce Mast, Rebekah Mast, Rachel Mast, Devon Mast, Savanna Blair, Sawyer Blair, Brock Wilson, Brevin Wilson, Bryce Wilson and Gannon Roth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Pauline Sheets and grandson Darren Blair.
