JoAnn Brown, 61, of Washington, IA passed away at her home Monday, January 20, 2020, following a short battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Washington. The family will greet friends Monday, January 27, from 4 – 7 PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County.
JoAnn Brown was born February 20, 1958 in Springfield, IL., the daughter of James and Mary (Cumby) Daringer. She spent her first 30 years living in Illinois where she married Timothy Brown on March 31, 1989 in Decatur IL. She spent 30 years working with the mentally challenged. In her spare time, she loved to travel, visiting 30 states and 15 Islands. She attended the First Baptist Church in Washington.
JoAnn is survived by her husband Timothy; four children: Dawn Milam of North Liberty, Amanda (Aaron) Jones of North Liberty, Travis Hartman of Des Moines, Jennifer Hartman of Washington; fur babies sparky and skippy; 7 grandchildren: Elijah, Spencer, Jazmine, Kate, Logan, Landon, and Gage; five siblings: Pat (Tom) Root of Lincoln, IL, Donna (Herman) Giles of Lawrenceburg, TN, Debbie Daringer of Lincoln, IL, James Daringer of Bloomington, IL, and Ralph (Tara) Daringer of Washington, IL, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, and her grandmother Faye Gilker, nephew Fred P. McCarty and best friend Carol Callahan.
