Janice Miller-Zahradnek

A celebration of life for Janice Claudine Miller-Zahradnek, 63, of Kalona, will be held Friday, March 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the United Christian and Baptist Church in Kalona.  Visitation will be held Thursday, March 19 from 4 – 8PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.  A memorial fund has been established for the family's use.  Claudine Miller died Monday, March 16, 2015 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.

Janice Claudine Miller- Zahradnek was born October 28, 1951 in Washington, IA the daughter of John Claude and Maxine (Yoder) Miller.  She graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1969.  She attained her Associates Degree in Accounting from Butler Community College.  Claudine was married to Joe Schlabach, the couple later divorced and on November 27, 2006 she was united in marriage to Dave Zahradnek in Kalona.  She worked as an auctioneer clerk for Auction Acres and Bud Palmer's Auction and later was a manager at Casey's and Westside Petro.  Claudine was a member of the AMVETS Ladies Auxilliary, Idris Club and served on the Kalona City Council for three years.  She enjoyed gardening, music, traveling, spending time with her friends and her grandson, Paul.

Survivors include her husband Dave Zahradnek, her mother Maxine Miller of Kalona, a son John Schlabach of Kalona, a daughter Jamie (Dan) Young of Kalona, grandson Paul Young of Kalona, and four brothers: Jerald Miller of Hots Springs, AR, Jim (Pam) Miller of Dubuque, IA, Duane (Bev) Miller of Anderson, CA, Dean (Dorothy) Miller of Kalona and a number of nieces and nephews.

Preceding Claudine in death were her father, John Claude, her brother David Miller, sister in law Linda Miller and nephew Danny Miller.
