Janice Freyenberger

Memorial services for Janice C. Freyenberger, 77, of Wayland will be held Sunday, August 15, 2010 at 4:00 PM at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church in rural Wayland with Pastor Nathan Luitjens officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 14, from 6-8PM at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church. Private family burial will be held Friday, August 13 at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Cemetery. Beatty Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A memorial fund has been established for Water For Life or the Gideon’s Auxiliary. Janice died Thursday, August 12, 2010 at her home south of Wayland following a battle with cancer.

Janice Carolyn Freyenberger was born December 29, 1932 at Archbold, OH, the daughter of Joseph Nicholas and Sarah Short Roth. She graduated as Valedictorian of her class in 1950 at Stryker High School in Archbold. She was united in marriage to Joseph Dean Freyenberger at the Central Mennonite Church in Archbold, OH on October 28, 1951. Janice was a member of the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church, Mennonite Women, and Gideon’s International and volunteered at the Crowded Closet, WACO Schools and Parkview Home. She enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband Joseph of Wayland, four daughters, Barbara Freyenberger of Iowa City, Michelle (Douglas) Frederick of Kalona, Carmen Martinez of Berwyn, IL, Maria (Michael) Roth of Wayland, 8 grandchildren, Anthony, David and Kellie Frederick, Adriana and Joseph Martinez, Abigail, Christian and Jackson Roth, and one great granddaughter, Isabelle Frederick, sister, Clela Helm of Trenton, NJ and brother, Herbert (Charlotte) Roth of Newville, PA.

Preceding Janice in death were her parents, an infant daughter, one brother, Dorwin Roth and two sisters, Verda Jetmore and Vera Roth.
