Janet Buck

March 14, 1942 — July 24, 2015

A celebration of life for Janet I. Buck, 73, of Ainsworth, Iowa will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington.  The body will be cremated following the service.  A visitation without the family present will be held Monday, July 27, from 1- 6 PM at the funeral home.  A visitation with the family present will be held from 10 – 11 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home.  A general memorial fund has been established.  Janet Irene Buck died Friday, July 24, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

Janet Irene (Derby) Buck was born March 14, 1942 in Richland, Iowa at her grandparents home, the  daughter of Harold S. and Velma Irene (Norton) Derby.  She married Jr. (Shennie) Buck on November 6, 1960 in Brighton, Iowa.  Janet graduated from Brighton High School in 1960 and worked at Montgomery Ward, Advance Ross and Children's House.  In 1982 she started her own day care, Bucky's Day Care,  and continued that until 2009.  She loved all the little children.  Janet was a member of the Ainsworth Community Church, where she had taught Sunday school and bible school.  She had also held offices in the Ainsworth Community Women.  Janet like camping, fishing and playing cards.

Survivors include her son James (Jim) Buck of Ainsworth, Iowa, daughter Mary Irene (Don) Berns of Ainsworth, two grandchildren, Edward and Amy Berns, one brother, Bill (Margie) Derby of Brighton, Iowa and a sister in law, Carol Seibert of Brighton, Iowa.

Preceding Janet in death were her parents, her husband Shennie in 2009 and a brother, Ron Derby in 2005.
