Janelle Faunce Raupp

Janelle F. Raupp, 69, of Pennsylvania, died Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Her body has been cremated and the family will hold a private gathering. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be directed to the Kalona Public Library, 510 C Ave, Kalona, IA 52247. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Janelle Faunce Raupp was born September 25, 1953, in Norman, Oklahoma, the daughter of Stuart and Mary Jane (Hullinger) Faunce. She graduated from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School in Fanwood, New Jersey, and attained a bachelor’s and master’s in chemical engineering from Purdue University, a PhD in Law from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s in divinity from Claremont School of Theology. She was active in the United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading, playing the piano and being a mom to Julia and a grandmother to Ascher and Maya.

Survivors include her daughter Julia (Matt) Freel of Kalona, two grandchildren: Ascher and Maya Freel, and three brothers: James (Candy) Faunce and Dayton (Kathy) Faunce both of New Jersey, and Kurt Faunce of Pennsylvania.

Janelle was preceded in death by her parents.
