Funeral Mass: Thursday, March 26, 2009 11:00 AM Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Richmond, IA Burial : Holy Trinity Cemetery, Richmond Visitation: Wed. 2-8 Family present 2-4 and 6-8 PM Peterseim Funeral Home Prayer 7:30PM funeral home Memorial: Holy Trinity Catholic Church James (Jim) Strabala (82) was born in Richmond, the son of Wino and Villa (Schmitt) Strabala. He was a life long resident of Richmond. He graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic Elementary School and Kalona High School in 1943. Jim immediately began employment at the Kalona Savings Bank (now Hills Bank) and remained there until retirement 42 years later as a Vice President of the bank. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, A 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Foresters, the Optimist Club of Kalona and the Washington County I-Club. Jim was a avid Hawkeye and Chicago Cub fan. Survivors inlcude five siblings, Mary connelly of Anamosa, IA., Lois Armbruster of Riverside, IA., Eileen Armbruster of Iowa City, Rita and husband Leo Dull of Talent, OR., Larry Strabala of Iowa City, a sister in law, Marge Strabala of Kalona, 29 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Preceding Jim in death were his parents, an infant sister, Lola Strabala and one brother, Maurice Strabala. A memorial fund has been established for the Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
