James “Larry” Laurance McTee Jr., 64 of Fort Madison formally of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, August 12, 2004 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 A.M. Monday, August 16, 2004 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with Rev. Dr. William Morehouse officiating. Burial will be at the North Wayne Township Cemetery near Olds. Visitation will be from 2-7:00 P.M. Sunday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with family receiving friends from 2-4:00 P.M. A memorial in the name of James McTee has been established in his name.
James was born April 19, 1940 in Jacksonville, Illinois the son of James “Mac” Laurance Sr. and Wilma (Mayes) McTee. He was united in marriage to Diane Twickham February 14, 1963 in Des Moines, Iowa. They later divorced.
James was raised in Des Moines and worked at Trailways bus garage, Kenworth and owned and operated Larry’s Service and Repair in Des Moines before moving to the Salem and Mt. Pleasant area. The last three years he lived in Fort Madison. While in Des Moines he was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include son Steve McTee and wife Crystal of Des Moines and daughter Julie McTee of Reno, NV; sister Cherokee Gardner of North Carolina and one grandson Sterling.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a still born daughter.
