A graveside service for James "Carl" McCoy, 90, of Iowa City will be held Friday, April 3, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Welsh Cemetery, 4401 Sharon Center Road, Iowa City, IA, 52240. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM at the Gospel Meeting Room at 1266 Wilson Avenue, SW, Cedar Rapids, 52404. Memorial donations may be made to Bible Truth Publishers, Iowa City Hospice, or for the family's use. Carl McCoy, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather joyfully entered into the presence of our Lord and Savior in the early morning hours Friday, March 27, 2015. Faith gave way to sight as Carl was called home to glory. His earthly joy was to "...hear that my children walk in truth" III John 4. His prayer was for all to have the saving knowledge and belief in our Lord Jesus Christ. Indeed for him to live was Christ!
James "Carl" McCoy was born June 11, 1924 in Burke, WI, the son of William Albert and Mary (Young) McCoy. He graduated from Sequim High School and entered the United States Marine Corp to serve his country in the South Pacific during World War II. While stationed at El Toro Marine Base in El Toro, CA, he met and married Jacqueline Rust on November 9, 1945. After his time in the Marine Corp he attended Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL. Carl retired from Archway Cookie Company as a route salesman owner in 1979, after serving the company for 35 years. Carl enjoyed reading the Word of God and playing golf.
Survivors include his wife Jacqueline of Iowa City, eight children: James McCoy of Denham Spring, LA; Timothy (Kathleen) McCoy of Redfield, AR; Mark McCoy of Olympia, WA; Daniel (Jennifer) McCoy of Tenino, WA; Jonathan (Vivian) McCoy of Eugene, OR; Laura McCoy of Iowa City; Philip (Nancy) McCoy of Lakeville, MN; Andrew McCoy of Tenino, WA; a daughter in law, Dawn McCoy of Riverside, IA; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren and two brothers: Hugh McCoy of Coeur d'Alene, ID; and Paul (Ann) McCoy of Bremerton, WA.
Preceding Carl in death were his parents, two sons, David McCoy and Roy McCoy and seven siblings: Kay, George, Barbara, Samuel, June, Bill and Marie.
