James “Jim” Marsh, 86 of Washington, died at his home suddenly, Monday, June 28, 2010.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 AM Thursday, July 1, 2010 at the United Methodist Church with Pastor Julie Poulsen officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 30 from noon until 7PM where the family will greet friends from 4-7PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. A memorial fund has been established for the Washington County Historical Society.
Jim Marsh was born June 9, 1924 in Washington, Iowa the son of Samuel L and Pearl Etta (Cochran) Marsh. He graduated from Washington High School in 1942 and served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II. On December 26, 1945 he was united in marriage to Donna Chalupa in Swedesburg, Iowa. Jim worked for Iowa Southern Electric Company for 38 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Richmond AMVET Post #107, Optimist Club of Washington and the Washington County Historical Society. He enjoyed woodworking, researching local history and cemeteries, taking day trips and fishing.
Survivors include his wife Donna of Washington, three children and spouses, Ronald (Martha) Marsh of Wayland, Diana (Jack) Hamilton of Washington, Thomas (Jeanette) Marsh of Kalona, five grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren nad eight step great grandchildren.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents and an infant sister.
