James Dopp, 69 of Washington, formerly of Park Falls, Wisconsin died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. The body has been cremated and a private family service will be held later. Memorial donations can be designated to the James Dopp Memorial Fund and sent to Jane Shank, PO Box 332, Washington, Iowa 52353.
James "Jim" Dopp was born November 25, 1943 in Beloit, Wisconsin, the son of H. R. and Betty (Whyte) Dopp. He attended Milton College in Wisconsin and was married to Jennie Schmid and later divorced. Jim was a retired machinist. He had a love of computers and enjoyed working on them for over 30 years. Jim was also a woodworker, tinkerer and collector of many items. He loved to spend time at the family cottage on Madeline Island on Lake Superior.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane (Scott) Shank of Washington, Iowa, JoElyn (Mark) Holmes of Peoria, Illinois, five grandchildren, Eliza, Madelyn, Jacalyn, Jacob and Emily, one brother, John (Kathy) Dopp of Beloit, Wisconsin, one sister, Barbara (Al) Klingenberg of South Beloit, Wisconsin, and four nephews, Jeff, Billie and Matt Dopp and Josh Nichols.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents and one brother, Richard Dopp.
