James Max Arbogast, 86 of Wayland, died Sunday September 4, 2011 at the Washington County Hospital following declining health.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:30AM Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Robert Wolf officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will begin at Noon Wednesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with family receiving friends from 5-7:00 PM. Memorials may be designated to Hospice of Washington County or the donors choice.
Max was born May 3, 1925 in Coppock, IA the son of Lloyd and Lois (Spohn) Arbogast. He graduated from Wayland High School in 1943 and served in the US Army. He was married to Anna Manning in 1946 and later married Lola (Morrow) Black in 1966.
Max was a over the road truck driver for many years and later owned and operated the Talleyrand Café with wife Lola for many years. He was a life member of the VFW.
Survivors include his wife Lola, daughter Judy (Dennis) Teel, son Harold (Teresa) Arbogast; daughter in law Candie Arbogast; step sons, Denny (Laura) Black, Mike (Bev) Black, Bill (Sherry) Black, Larry Black, Steve (Denise) Black, Gary (Jackie) Black, Tom (Debbie) Black, Doug (Cindy) Black, Brad (Bonnie) Black; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers Lee, Ray, Robert and Daniel; sister Jean (Richard) Payne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Mick; brother Larry “Smoke”; sisters Wilma Lowry and Karen Swift and granddaughter Tiana Arbogast.
