Howard Schultz

June 24, 1941 — February 6, 2008

Howard “Howdy” Schultz, 67 of Ainsworth, died Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington following a sudden illness.

Funeral Services have been set for 2:00 PM Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Kitch Shatzer officiating. Burial will be in the Ainsworth Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Friday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 PM in the evening. A general memorial in the name of Howard “Howdy” Schultz has been established at the Funeral Home.

Howdy was born June 24, 1940 in Washington, Iowa the son of Howard and Ethyle (Wilson) Schultz. He grew up in the Washington and Ainsworth area, graduating from Ainsworth High School in 1958.

He worked for Corbin and Evelyn Crawford, Rath Packing Company, Buick Tire and was salesman for Tire Associates of Mankato, MN.

Mr. Schultz was former mayor of Ainsworth, an avid sports fan of Ainsworth and Highland athletics. He was a past member of the Highland Booster Club and current member of the Ainsworth Fire Department. President of the Ainsworth Community Together, A.C.T. and Town View Village. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, car racing and greatly enjoyed photography.

Survivors include his mother Ethyle Schultz of Ainsworth; brothers Duane “Barney” Schultz and wife Rita of Ainsworth, Ron Schultz of Hedrick, IA, George Schultz and wife Judy of Ainsworth, Steve Schultz and wife Sally of Ainsworth; sister Sharon Gillis and husband Roger of Ainsworth; twenty-five nieces and nephews and nineteen great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Howard and his aunt Mae Page.
