He was raised in Indiana and attended rural schools there until the 8th grade. On March 8, 1941 he was united in marriage to Alma Slabach. Henry served in the Civilian Public Service in 1942. The couple moved to Iowa and began farming in the area in 19 . Henry was a member of the Kalona Mennonite Church, a founding board member of the Pleasantview Home, and a card-carrying member of the Kalona Koffee Klub. He enjoyed playing golf, spending winters in Florida and especially loved farming. Survivors include three children and spouses, Mary and husband Wilbur Litwiller of Wellman, Emma and husband John Simmons of Plattsburg, MO Merle and wife Marlinda Beachy of Kalona, eight grandchildren listed as casket bearers and 13 great grandchildren. Preceding Henry in death were his parents, wife Alma on June 1, 2005, two brothers, Benjamin and Eli Beachy and one sister Katie Beachy. A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona Mennonite Church and Iowa City Hospice. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to everyone for the many acts of love and support shown to them during this time of loss.
