A celebration of life for Henrietta M. Johnson, 86, of Kalona, will be held Friday, May 14, 2021, at 3:00 PM at the Kalona United Methodist Church with Pastor Gene Kubli officiating. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim Facebook page. Burial will follow at the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be held from 2 – 3:00 PM Friday at the church. A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona United Methodist Church. Henrietta Johnson died Sunday, May 9, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospital following a brief illness. The Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Henrietta Marie (Pruismann) Johnson was born March 7, 1935, in Webster City, Iowa, the daughter of Edward G. and Emma (Rethmann) Pruismann. She graduated from Webster City High School. She worked as an operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Webster City. On December 8, 1956, she was united in marriage to Gene Johnson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. In the 1970’s Henrietta was a tour guide for the Kalona Historical Society. She was the proud owner of Vacation Land Postcards while living in the Lake of the Ozarks. Henrietta was a member of the Kalona United Methodist Church, Idris Club of Kalona, and a lifetime member of Beta Signa Phi Sorority where she held the Yellow Rose distinction. She enjoyed playing bridge, fishing, traveling and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband Gene of Kalona, three children: Kevin (Voncille) Johnson of Kalona, Lori (Dale) Fijalkowski of Vernon Hills, IL, Kent (Lisa) Johnson of St. Louis, MO, six grandchildren: Kendra, Kyle, Jennifer, Casimer, Jared and Kate, five great-grandchildren: Ava, Faye, Weston, Donald and Rose, and one brother Frank (Mary) Pruismann of Mesa, AZ.
Preceding Henrietta in death were her parents, granddaughter Jessica Johnson and two sisters: Anna and Darlene.
