Helen Messer, 83 of the Trenton community, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 21, 2003 at the Green Mound Church of God, west of Trenton with the Rev. Dennis Kuhns officiating. Burial will be in the Green Mound Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland with the family receiving friends from 7-8:30 P.M. Memorials in the name of Helen Messer may be designated to the Green Mound Church of God or the Wayland Rescue Squad.
Helen was born October 21, 1919 west of Trenton the daughter of William and Mary (Ridinger) Schadt. On October 21, 1938 she was united in marriage to Ernest E. Messer in Wayland.
Helen was a faithful member of the Green Mound Church of God. She helped raise her family and farmed with her husband. She enjoyed birds, flowers, gardening and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan.
Survivors include two sons, Dwight Messer and wife Kay of Wayland and Randy Messer and wife Laura of Washington; two brothers, Jim Schadt and wife Bertha of Mt. Pleasant and Walter Schadt and wife Lucy of Orleans, Indiana; two sisters, Darlene Gholson of Wayland and Maxine Farr of Mt. Pleasant; four grandsons, Tim, Scott, Jeremiah and Lance; two granddaughters, Lori and Kim; three great-grandsons, Remington, Caden and Brycen; three great-granddaughters, Katie, Lauren and Amada.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest, July 28, 2002, two brothers, Joe Schadt and John Schadt and sister Kathryn White.
