Helen Louise Kaczetow, 82, of Columbus Jct., formerly of Washington, died Friday, January 30, 2009 at the Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Jct. following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 2, 2009 at 10:00AM the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. Burial will follow at the Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa. Visitation will be held at the Beatty funeral home on Sunday, February 1, from 1-7PM where the family will greet friends from 4-7PM. A general memorial fund has been established.
Helen was born January 2, 1927 in Farmington, Iowa the daughter of Alva Everett and Mary Ellen (Muntz) Scott. She was united in marriage to John Z. Kaczetow on March 10, 1985. Helen was a nail technician for several years but spent most of her working life as Kitchen Supervisor at the Moose Haven Home in Florida. She moved back to Iowa from Jacksonville, Fl in 2002 and moved into the Colonial Manor Care Center on April 14, 2008. Helen enjoyed sewing, puzzles, embroidery and going out to eat.
Survivors include two children, a daughter, Mary Ann Smith of Washington, son Robert Lewis Salts of New Caney, TX, four step children, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren.
Preceding Helen in death were her parents, husband John, four brothers, Everett, Leroy, Robert and Paul Scott, two sisters; Anna Mae and Peggy Lou, one grandson Dylan McKay-Martin.
