Helen M. Johnson, 73 of Washington, died Monday, April 11, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following declining health.
Funeral Services have been set for 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 14, 2005 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with the Rev. Richard Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the West Chester Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Wednesday at the Funeral Home with family present from 6-8:00 P.M. A Memorial in the name of Helen Johnson has been established in her name.
Helen was born September 22, 1931 in Ainsworth, Iowa the daughter of Marvin Hugo and Irene (Roth) Buck. She was united in marriage to John Johnson June 29, 1953 at the Baptist Church in Washington.
She worked at the Turkey Plant in Kalona, almost twenty years at Modine and also at Northrup King. She enjoyed crocheting, watching her son’s race cars and fishing.
Survivors include children, Mary Kay Beal of Oklahoma City, OK, Deette Beal and husband Darrell of Brighton, IA, Ernest Johnson and wife Linda of Washington, IA, Nancy Tapley of Webster, IA, Jerry Johnson of Washington, Jim Johnson and wife Laurie of West Chester, IA and Joe Johnson and wife Jean of Washington; brothers, Dale Buck and wife Bonnie of Ainsworth, IA, Junior “Shennie” Buck and wife Janet of Ainsworth, IA and Richard Buck of Washington; sisters Mary Lou Edgar and husband Hank of Crawfordsville and Katy Keisey and husband Dan of Marion, IA; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John on January 12, 2003, two sisters Maxine and Grace and brother Francis Bernard James “Sonny”, grandson Jason and great-grandson Dylan.
