A celebration of life for Helen R. Connelly, 83, of Ainsworth will be held Monday, August 22, 2011 at 10:30AM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Jean Wollenberg officiating. Burial will follow at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6PM on Sunday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington.
Helen Connelly died Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the Washington County Hospital. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County.
Helen Roberta Madsen was born December 16, 1927 in Burlington, Iowa the daughter of Walter and Elsie Mae (Wixom) Madsen. She was united in marriage to Keith Connelly on November 10, 1951 in Kahoka, Missouri. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, going to flea markets, antique stores, collecting glassware and feeding and watching the birds.
Survivors include three sons, Gerald Hassler of Illinois, Robert Connelly of Ainsworth, Iowa, Ronald and wife Karen Connelly of Washington, IA and one daughter, Deborah and husband Larry Sumpter of Solon, IA, eight grandchildren,Camron, Adam, Charity, K.C., Shawn and Roni, Jason Jenks, Tracy Tuel and six great grandchildren, Kera Kolton, Kayden, Addison, Samantha, and Savanna.
Preceding Helen in death were her parents, husband Keith and one brother Edward Eugene Madsen.
