Helen L. Brown, 85 of Washington, died Friday, April 6,, 2007 at the McCreedy Home in Washington following declining health.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the First Christian Church in Washington with Rev. Rich Boyd and Rev. Fred Bickhart officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Monday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 in the evening. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be designated to the First Christian Church or Hospice of Washington Co.
Helen was born October 18, 1921 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Howard Lewis and Mabel Aletha (Hotle) Baker. She was united in marriage to Doyle Nelson Brown December 18, 1940 in Washington, Iowa.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Washington and VFW Auxiliary. She was employed with Logan Jewelry, Mason Hardware and retired from greeting at Wal-Mart. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting and being with her family.
Survivors include her husband Doyle of Washington, daughters Phyllis Hazelett of Washington, Lois Lemley and husband Dennis of Washington and Betty Hamil and friend Dave Taylor of Washington; sisters Lucille Ross of Washington, Dorothy Black of Washington and Martha Brown and husband Kenneth of Mt. Pleasant; nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mary Schooley and two brothers Lawrence and Clark Baker.
