Helen Baird

June 27, 1915 — February 13, 2008

Helen J. Baird, 92 of North Charleston, South Carolina, formally of Washington died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Life Care Center in Charleston, South Carolina.



Funeral Services have been set for 11:00 AM Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Daryl Carr officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Friday at the Funeral Home with family present from 6-8:00 PM. A general memorial in Helen J. Baird's name has be en est ablished.



Helen was born June 27, 1915 east of Brighton, IA. She was daughter of Marc and Jessie (Yetter) Crandall. She graduated from Brighton High School and was the Valedictorian of her graduating class. Helen and Stanley were united in marriage on June 6, 1934 at his home southwest of Washington on the Baird family farm. T hey enjoyed 72 years of marriage.



Helen was a member of the First Baptist Church and her husband lived in Pekin, IL. from 1941 till 1974 and returned to Washington in 1992. Helen and Stanley traveled many miles as missionaries following retirement. They also enjoyed their time at Lake Wilson in Wisconsin.



Survivors include son, James H. Baird and wife Sheralynn of Lomita, CA. Three Nieces ; Diane Miller of Albany, Georgia; Susan St. Clair of Puyallup, Washington, Shelly Brandon of Kingsport, Tn. Mrs. Baird also leaves Six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents; Jessie (Yetter), and Marc Davis Crandall; husband Stanley H. Baird, January 8, 2005, daughter Nancy Barnard; Sept, 16, 2007; two infant brothers; two infant sisters, sister Myrtle (Crandall) Bridges, brother; Charles H. Crandall; and Nita I (Crandall) Stanford.
