A celebration of life for Hazel D. Boyse, 85 of Kalona will be held Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Burial will follow at the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 7 from 4 – 7 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice and Pleasantview Home. Hazel Boyse died Monday, August 5, 2013 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.
Hazel Darlene (Marner) Boyse was born August 23, 1927 in rural Johnson County, the daughter of Maynard and Emma (Pokrantz) Marner. She attended Pacific rural school. She was united in marriage to Robert Boyse and had three sons, the couple later divorced. Hazel was a homemaker and later worked as a waitress at Country Kitchen in Iowa City. She enjoyed farming, riding horses, raising German Shepards and her grandkids and great grandkids. Hazel was very active in the Boyse family racing team for over 40 years.
Survivors include three sons and spouses; Kenneth (Deborah) Boyse of Wellman, John (Gloria) Boyse of Wellman, Ron (Becky) Boyse of Kalona, six grandchildren; Wyatt (Amy) Boyse, Jamie (Wendy) Boyse, Crystal Wallace and fiance' Jason, Brad (Tobi) Boyse, Todd (Angie) Boyse, Pam (Kasey) Wilkins, 13 great grandchildren; Derek, Carson, Brenten, Jessica, Dakota, Jordan, Joshua, Rylee, Hunter, Tori, Grant, Luke and Bodi.
Preceding Hazel in death were her parents.
The family would like to thank the Pleasantview Home and Iowa City Hospice for the wonderful care that Hazel received.
