Funeral services for Hattie E. Nebel, 94 of Wayland, will be held Monday, August 23, 2010 at 11:00AM at the Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church in rural Wayland with Pastor Bob Spilger officiating. Burial will follow at the Fern Cliff Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 22 from 4-6PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Hattie Nebel died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the Parkview Home in Wayland. A memorial fund has been established for Parkview Home, Fern Cliff Missions and Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church.
Hattie was born October 29, 1915 in Coppock, Iowa the daughter of John and Ida (Nicola) McKune. On November 27, 1932 she was united in marriage to Milton Ward Nebel at her aunt and uncle’s home in Packwood, Iowa. Milton died October 28, 1959. Hattie was a cook at the Sail In Café for 25 years or more and was the first cook at the Parkview Home in Wayland. She was a member of the Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church and enjoyed fishing, riding horses, cooking, traveling, watching her grandchildren play sports and helping her children and grandchildren. Spending time with her family was very important to Hattie.
Survivors include four children and spouses, Mary Ellen (Ted) Saforek of Washington, Mathena (Wayne) Barta of Wayland, Doris (Everett) Sinn-Hauenstein of Wayland, Paul (Elizabeth) Nebel of Noble, 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, 11 step great great grandchildren, three sisters, Joan Evans of Post Falls, ID, Dorothy (Charles) Randolph of Sacramento, CA, Helen Roth of Washington, and two sisters in law, Lorna McKune of Yucaipa, CA and Mildred McKune of Wayland.
Preceding Hattie in death were her parents, her husband, one son in law, Robert Dean Sinn, three brothers, John McKune, Jr., Rex McKune, Harry McKune, five sisters, Beulah Askea, Edna Geblin, Bessie Edwards, Opal McManis, Eva Woodall, and 1 great great grandchild.
