Harry McKune, 82 of Wayland, Iowa died Monday, November 20, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 AM Friday, November 24, 2006 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Monte Knutson officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery east of Wayland. Visitation will begin at Noon Thursday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 in the evening. Memorials in the name of Harry McKune may be designated to the Wayland Rescue Squad.
Mr. McKune was born November 6, 1924 near Coppock, IA the son of John Cleveland and Ida Mae (Nicola) McKune. He was united in marriage to Mildred Chorpening April 5, 1944 at the Christian Tabernacle in Washington, IA.
Harry was member of the Faith Christian Outreach Church in Mt. Pleasant. He farmed most of his life around the Wayland area, moving to Wayland in 1998. He enjoyed ponies, horses and fishing.
Survivors include his wife Mildred of Wayland, son Gary McKune and wife Angie of Seymour, MO; four sisters Hattie Nebel of Wayland, Helen Roth of Kalona, IA, Dorothy Randolph of Sacramento, CA and Joan Evans of Post Falls, ID; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Rex; five sisters, Bessie Edwards, Opal McManis, Eva Woodul, Edna Gebelin and Beulah Askea.
