Harrison J. “Ike” Knott, 81 of Washington died Saturday, January 21, 2006 at the Washington County Hospital.
Ike has been cremated and private family graveside services will be held at a later date at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will begin at Noon Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 in the evening. Memorials in the name of Ike Knott may be designated to the YMCA or the Central Park Community Center.
Ike was born September 12, 1924 in Washington, Iowa the son of Harry and Ella (Kiesey) Knott. He attended local schools and graduated from Washington n 1942. He attended Augustana College in Rock Island and during WWII served in the European Theater as a Medical Technician for the 230th Division Mental Hospital. On April 10, 1953 he was united in marriage to Donna Lee Weatherford in Evanston, IL.
Ike worked for the National Gas Pipeline Company and eventually became Superintendent of Gas Control. He retired in 1986 after 38 years with the company. In 1995 Ike and his wife returned to Washington. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, reading and was a self taught investor.
Survivors include his wife Donna of Washington, sons, Steven (Mary) Knott of Chicago, IL and Tim (Joy) Knott of Lake St. Croix Beach, MN; grandchildren Meaghan and Brian Knott of Chicago and Lance Corporal Patrick Knott serving in the marine corp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, sisters, Doris Campbell and Eva Ashby.
