Guy Arnum Messer, 89, of rural Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004, at the Henry County Health Center following declining health.
Funeral Services have been set for 1:30 P.M., Saturday, August 21, 2004, at the Green Mound Church of God west of Trenton with Rev. Dennis Kuhns officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Friday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 P.M. in the evening. A memorial in the name of Guy Messer has been established at the funeral home.
Guy was born September 17, 1914, near Noble, IA, the son of Arthur Hayes and Elsie Mae (McPheron) Messer. He attended Union grade school and was united in marriage to Genevieve Hyde November 6, 1937. They were married for sixty-eight years.
Guy was a member of the Green Mound Church of God and farmed southeast of Trenton for over sixty years. He enjoyed playing cards and coached softball when he was younger.
Survivors include wife, Genevieve of Mount Pleasant, brother Harold Messer and wife Margaret of Olds, sister in law Betty Messer of Wayland and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded three brothers Chester E., Ernest E. and Perl E.; four sisters Blanche Clark, Lorene L. Messer, Georgia Case and Jennie Lynn.
