A celebration of life for Grace M. Strickler, 100, of Kalona will be held Monday, April 25, 2011 at 10:30AM at the Kalona United Methodist Church with Pastors Gerry Kahler and David L. Yoder officiaiting.  Burial will follow at the Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona.  Visitation will be held Sunday, April 24 from 5-8PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.  Grace Strickler died Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the Pleasantview Home following a life filled with love and service.  A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona United Methodist Church and Pleasantview Home.

Grace Marie Strickler was born February 27, 1911 in Kalona, Iowa the daughter of John and Julia (Barger) Grecian.  She graduated from Kalona High School in 1929.  On June 22, 1930 she was united in marriage to Lovell Strickler in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Grace was a homemaker and she and her husband owned and operated Strickler Feed for many years.  She was a devoted member of the Kalona United Methodist Church where she served in many ways over the years and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of The Rebekah's.  She volunteered for many years for various organizations, including the Kalona Public Library, Washington County Senior Center, Washington County Lending Hands Adult Day Care and the Pleasantview Home.  She enjoyed living life to the fullest. Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Grout of Kalona, six grandchildren, Kathy Grout and her children, Robb and Russ (Ann) Redlinger and Rochelle (Ryan) Taylor, Sandy (Jim) Gingerich and their children, Greg (Alida Lee) Gingerich, Beth Gingerich, Aaron (Jolene) Gingerich, and Erica Gingerich, Cherie (Daryl) Baker and Cherie's children, Nathan (Aly) Miller and Chelsea Hobbs, Ron (Kathy) Grout, Rick (Cate) Grout and his children, Lucas, Tyler (Jenna) and Travis Grout, Becky (Bob) Ihrig and their children, Amber (David) Frederick and Kyle (Amy) Ihrig, and 18 great great grandchildren, Meghan and Kattie Redlinger, Wyatt Taylor, Ridge Lee and Ash Lee Gingerich, Taylor, Cameron ad Brooklyn Gingrich, Nataly and Taylan Miller, Gabriela and Jack Hobbs, Karson, Kadence, Kael and Koy Grout, Macie Jo Ihrig and Baby Frederick (due in June). She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, Ervin Grecian ,two infant sisters and one infant brother.
