Goldie F. Swift, 85 of Washington, died Saturday, August 23, 2003 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 27, 2003 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Richard Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Monday at the Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 P.M. in the evening. A Memorial in the name of Goldie Swift has been established to Hospice of Washington Co. and the First Christian Church.
Goldie was born September 5, 1917 in Woodbine, Iowa the daughter of James Walter and Maud Estella (Willis) Mincey. She was united in marriage to Joseph R. Leon and after his death married Chick Swift, who also preceded her in death. She graduated from High School and attended College.
She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Washington. Goldie was known as the candy lady and enjoyed children. In her early years she taught school.
Survivors include her daughter, Lani Steele and husband Dr. Robert of Lineville, Alabama; two granddaughters, Lori and Robin; special friends, John and Janice Skubal of Ainsworth, Iowa and Robert and Joni Sandburg of Washington, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, several brothers and sisters.
