Glen Wenger

June 18, 1917 — April 25, 2004

Glen David Wenger was born to David and Katie Wenger on June 18, 1917, in Wayland, Iowa. With a smile on his face, he peacefully entered his heavenly home as he slept, on April 25, 2004, in Simpsonville, SC.

Glen and Bertha Marie Miller were married at Lower Deer Creek Church in Kalona, Iowa, on December 25, 1940. They spent 61 years farming in Wayland, Iowa, where they were active members of Bethel Mennonite Church. They moved to South Carolina in 2001.

Glen is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bertha, eight children and their spouses, Robert and Linda Wenger, Karen and Vernon Leichty, Esther and Leland Leichty, and Daniel and Linda Wenger, all of Wayland, Iowa; Joseph and Linda Wenger of Washington, Iowa; Edward and Lynn Wenger of Ohio; Sam and Elaine Wenger, and Orie and Beverly Wenger of South Carolina. Also surviving are twenty-seven grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and his brother Emery Wenger, and his sisters, Martha Roth and Mary Wyse.

A memorial service will be held at Bethel Mennonite Church on Thursday, April 29, 2004, at 7:00pm with Rev. Phil Slabaugh and Herb Yoder officiating. The body has been cremated and there will be a private family burial. Beatty Funeral Home of Wayland is assisting with local arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bethel Mennonite Church Glen Wenger Memorial.
