Glen B. Leichty, 76 of Wayland, died Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Park Place in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
Funeral Services have been set for 1:30 PM Sunday, December 24, 2006 at the Bethel Mennonite Church with Pastor Phil Slabaugh officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon till 6:00 Saturday at the Bethel Mennonite Church with the family present from 2-4:00 PM in the afternoon. Beatty Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. A memorial in the name of Glen B. Leichty has been established to the Bethel Mennonite Church.
Glen was born October 3, 1930 in Noble, Iowa the son of William Benjamin and Ada Mae (Roth) Leichty. He graduated from Wayland High School in 1949 and was united in marriage to Luora Mae Roth on June 2, 1955 at the Wellman Mennonite Church.
Glen was faithful member of the Bethel Mennonite Church, served on several committees and was a former member of the IMS School Board. He worked for the Wayland Carpenter Shop briefly in his early years and farmed all his life. He enjoyed farming, music and spending time with family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Luora of Wayland, children Deon Leichty and wife Jo of Crawfordsville, Steve Leichty and wife Lynelle of Wayland, Garry Leichty and wife Karen of Mt. Pleasant and Vicky Caraveo and husband Rudy of Mt. Pleasant; brother Mahlon Leichty and wife Delores of Kalona, IA and thirteen grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harold, and infant daughter and son.
