Glen A. Gingerich, 83, of Riverside, passed from this life on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital. A graveside service will be held Friday, January 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 4 – 6 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A general memorial fund has been established.
Glen was born June 9, 1941, the son of Advin and Hattie (Ledman) Gingerich. He graduated from Keota High School and earned his CDL from Indian Hills Community College. He married Mary Swolley on October 27, 1984, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple later divorced and remained lifelong friends. Glen worked as a mechanic and in salvage. He enjoyed fishing, playing computer games, working on vehicles, and babysitting the TV.
Survivors include his daughter Misty Gingerich (Jason Van Voltenburg) of Grinnell, IA, his faithful companion Tippy the dog, brother-in-law Lowell Zillmer of Marion, IA, sister-in-law Donna Cline of Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Glen in death were his parents, his wife Mary, two sisters: Mary Fritz and Linda Zillmer, and four brothers Leroy, Ralph, Orval, and Lawrence (Jake) Gingerich.
