A celebration of life for Gladys H. Miller, 91, of Kalona will be held Friday, January 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Riverside with Pastor Ed Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at the South Sharon (Grout) Cemetery in rural Riverside. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 – 11 AM on Friday at the church. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice, Trinity United Methodist Church and Grout Cemetery.

Gladys Helen (Schenk) Miller was born March 22, 1923 in Frytown, Iowa the daughter of Clarence and Ethel (Cline) Schenk. She graduated from Kalona High School and was united in marriage to Fred J. Miller on April 24, 1946. Gladys was a homemaker and worked at Owen's Brush and in the cafeteria at the University of Iowa. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Riverside where she belonged to the United Methodist Women. Gladys enjoyed cooking, quilting, gardening, playing cards and working on puzzles.
Survivors include three children: Marsha (Dene) Rath of Riverside, Marlene (Gary) Grout of Iowa City, Marlo (Cindy) Miller of Riverside, eight grandchildren: Gena (Adam) Gesing, Aaron (Crystal) Rath, Leah Grout (fiance' Mark Groth), Sara Grout, Kyle (Jessica) Grout, Ryan (Jenna) Miller, Ben Miller and Jenna Miller, seven great grandchildren: Aubree and Ainsley Gesing, Andrew and Emily Rath, Ava Leigh Grout, Stella and Bryce Miller, and one brother, Harold Schenk of Hills.
Preceding Gladys in death were her parents, her husband, one brother; Clair Schenk, and three sisters: Iona Hudachek, Hazel Bailey and Waneta Watkinson.
