Gilbert E. Galyean, 54 of New London, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 11, 2003 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.
Funeral Services have been set for 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 15, 2003 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Lowell Simmons officiating. Burial will be in the Burge Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Wednesday at the Funeral Home with family present from 7-8:30 P.M. Memorials may be designated to the National Rifle Association or Ducks Unlimited in the name of Gilbert E. Galyean.
Gilbert was born August 1, 1948 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa the son of Paul and Geneva (Craig) Galyean.
He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and joined the Air Force after school. He was employed for many years at the Iowa Ordnance Plant in Middletown. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, National Rifle Association, American Motorcyclist Association, Deer Wood County Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and motorcycling.
Survivors include his brother, Ray L. Trueblood and wife Mary of Burlington, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
