Gerald N. Fankhauser, 86 of Ollie died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the All-American Care Center in Washington following a lingering illness. No services are planned at this time. A general memorial fund has been established.
Gerald Norman Fankhauser was born April 19, 1926 in Tipton, Iowa the son of Otis and Nedia (Achey) Fankhauser. He served in the United States Army and the Navy in Germany during World War II. On May 29, 1950 he was united in marriage to Helen Robinson in Waterloo, Iowa. Gerald worked for the City of Iowa City, the City of What Cheer and at the University of Iowa for 14 years. He was a member of the Iowa City Moose Lodge and enjoyed training horses, working on tractors and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Helen of Ollie, Iowa, seven children and spouses; Cindy (Phil) Lindley of North Liberty, Iowa, Jerry (Judy) Fankhauser of Lone Tree, Iowa, Dixie (Al) Chapman of Ollie, Iowa, Sandy (Tony) Stramondo of Jupiter, Florida, Janette (Dwayne) Blakely of Higginsville, Missouri, Jeff (Danielle) Fankhauser of Washington, Iowa, Wayne Fankhauser of Jupiter, Florida, 21 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Preceding Gerald in death were his parents and four brothers and four sisters.
