Gerald Melvin “Ozzie” Christner, 64 of Lockridge, IA, died suddenly Monday, June 2, 2003 at his home.


Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 A.M. Friday, June 6, 2003 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Roy Nelson of the Trenton Missionary Church officiating. Burial will be in the White Oak Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will begin at Noon Thursday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with family present from 6-8:00 P.M. A memorial in the name of Gerald Melvin Christner has been established to the White Oak Cemetery.


Gerald was born March 8, 1939 in the Merrimac community the son of Archie and Marie (Hendricks) Christner. On August 29, 1967 he was united in marriage to Karen Schmidt in New London, IA.


Gerald graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. Following school he was a member of the U.S. Army. He was employed as an independent Truck Driver for over twenty years and had lived in Lockridge since 1981. He enjoying fishing, hunting, camping, tree trimming, working at home and antique tractors.


Survivors include his wife Karen of Lockridge; his father, Archie of Washington, IA; son, Mark William Christner of Lockridge and daughter Marilyn Jolin Smith and husband Dan of Oquawka, IL; one brother, LaVerne Christner and wife Elma of Ocean Park, WA; three sisters, Juanita Graber and husband Dwight of Washington, IA, Sharon Sanaghan and husband Steve of Lockridge, IA and Linda Johnson and husband Don of Washougal, WA; seven grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his mother Marie, July 29, 2002 and son Gordon Dale Christner.
