Gary Crossett

Gary E. Crossett, 73 of Washington, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at the Washington County Hospital following a sudden illness.

Funeral Services have been set for 10:00 AM Monday, April 13, 2009 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Linda Foor officiating. The body will be cremated following the funeral. Burial will be Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 2:00PM. The family will be receiving friends from 4:00-7:00 PM Sunday, April 12th at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established.

Gary Eugene Crossettt was born December 30, 1935 in Washington County the son of Martial and Esther (Stump) Crossett. On January 14, 1952 he was united in marriage to Ellen Schantz in Bloomfield, Iowa. The couple lived and farmed in the Washington area until retiring in 2001. Gary enjoyed woodworking, engine repair, tending to his garden and flowers, spending time with his grandchildren and his grand pets, Zoey and Sophie.

Survivors include his wife Ellen of Washington, Iowa, six children, Colleen and husband David Jefferson of Grundy Center, Iowa, Marshall and wife Jennifer Crossett of Washington, Iowa, Connie Crossett of Washington, Iowa, Ada Sue and husband Dale Sands of Crawfordsville, Iowa, Teresa and husband Tracy Swift of Washington, Iowa, and Sheryl Crossett of Washington. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, two brothers, Duane and wife Louie Crossett of Columbus Jct., Iowa, Tom Crossett of Burlington, Iowa, two sisters, Linda and husband Ed Kleese, Mildred and husband Gary Thomas both of Washington, Iowa, and one sister in law, Delores Crossett of New London, Iowa.
Preceding Gary in death were his parents, two infant sisters, one infant brother and a brother Doug Crossett.
