Gary A. Cook, 76, of Washington, formerly of Sycamore, Illinois, died Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Halcyon House in Washington. A memorial service will be held in Sycamore at a later date. A general memorial fund has been established. The Beatty Funeral Home is assisting the family locally, the Butala Funeral Home in Sycamore is assisting the family in Illinois.
Gary Arthur Cook was born November 23, 1942 in Sycamore, IL. the son of Arthur and Inez Ellen (VanDusen) Cook. He attended Genoa-Kingston High School in Genoa, IL. and served in the United States Army for two years. On September 27, 1963 he was united in marriage to Kathy Grant in Illinois.
Gary was employed at Annaconda Wire and Cable in Sycamore and was a goldsmith, owning and operating the Gold and Silver Shop and Golden Dreams. He enjoyed playing poker, golf and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children: Tim (Amy) Cook of Washington, IA. Todd “Izzy” Cook of Florida, four grandchildren: Shandi, Kaity, Alex and Cameron (Kayla) Cook and sister Pat Fann of San Diego, CA.
Preceding Gary in death were his parents, his wife Kathy, one brother Calvin and three sisters: Anita, Sue and Sally
