Gail A. Niffenegger, 85, of Washington, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Halcyon House in Washington. A memorial celebration of his life will be held Monday, April 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with Pastor Darren Brown officiating. The service will be available via Livestream on the Beatty Peterseim YouTube and Facebook pages. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Monday. A private family burial will be held at the West Chester Cemetery, following a light meal at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Hospice of Washington County. Their steadfast, loving care and compassion will be remembered forever. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Gail Allen Niffenegger was born December 10, 1939, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Ivan Leo and Beatrice Mae (Hough) Niffenegger. He graduated from West Chester High School. On September 26, 1959, he was united in marriage to Sharon Trier at the West Chester Methodist Church. Farming was Gail’s passion, and he farmed for several years before working at Fansteel in Washington. After retiring, he returned to farming with the Cletus Reed family. He was a member of the West Chester Community Church and later attended the Grace Community Church in Washington. He treasured time with his family and also enjoyed car racing, farming, fishing, and hunting.

Survivors include his wife Sharon of Washington; two daughters: Shari (Jerry) Hawkins of Florida, Shelley (Rick) Milks of Fairfax, Iowa; three grandchildren: Adam (Layne) Bell, Benjamin (Kourtney) Milks, and Madalynn Milks; and one great-granddaughter, Etta Bell.

Preceding Gail in death were his parents and his sister ,Shirley Hobbs.
