Frieda J. (Hirschy) Bachman was born December 2, 1918 in rural Henry County, the daughter of Joseph and Lydia (Wagler) Hirschy. She graduated from Wayland High School in 1938 and was united in marriage to Earl A. Bachman on September 2, 1938 in Wayland. Frieda was a homemaker and faithful member of the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church. She enjoyed housekeeping, canning, baking, sewing, embroidery work, quilting, antique collecting and playing the piano. Frieda loved being outdoors in nature with her cats and dog; and, on the farm, took great pride in her vegetable and flower gardens as well as her manicured lawn. She also loved her family and kept an interest in their lives. Above all, Frieda was always genuinely concerned about the physical and spiritual welfare of others.
