Fred L. Yoder, 76 of Kalona died, Thursday, October 21, 2021 at his home. His body has been cremated and private family services will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be designated to Iowa City Hospice or Mennonite Central Committee. Memorial and condolences may be mailed to 2204 135th Dr. #6, Kalona, Iowa 52247. Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Fred was born December 24, 1944 in Kokomo, IN the son of Leo and Fannie (Herschberger) Yoder. He grew up in Kalona and was united in marriage to Judy Egli, March 29, 1969 in Denver CO.
In 1976 Fred and Judy moved to Kalona to partner with his brother Elmer in business at Kalona Oil Co., Fred loved the Lord and was a member of Kalona Mennonite Church where he was active for over 40 years. He loved to travel, vacation with his siblings and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Denver Broncos fan. Fred had lifelong health issues which included 2 kidney transplants, with the last one being a live donation from his sister Miriam, that gave him 9 more good years of life.
Survivors include his wife Judy, son Scott A Yoder and wife Annie Sessa of Hoboken, NJ; brother Elmer Yoder and wife Marlene, sisters, Miriam Nisly and husband Sheldon, Lovina King and husband Roland and Lora Riegsecker and husband Del; grandchildren, Jacob L. Yoder of Iowa City, Leo Sessa-Yoder, Ollie Sessa-Yoder and Lola Sessa-Yoder.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Floyd.
