Frances V. Young, 84, died Saturday, November 1, 2008 in the Washington County Hospital following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 2:00PM at the United Church of Crawfordville with Pastor Nancy Love officiating. Burial will follow at the Crawfordsville Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 4 from 5-7 in the evening at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. A memorial fund has been established for the United Church of Crawfordsville.
Frances Young was born March 3, 1924 in Pillager, MN the daughter of Elmer and Matilda (Kallaus) Durst. Frances worked at the Goodyear Factory inspecting fuel tanks in bombers during World War II, and later worked at the Pearl Button Factory in Washington. She was united in marriage to Chester James Young on February 24, 1948 in Washington, IA.
Frances was a member of the United Church of Crawfordsville and the Rural Homemakers of Crawfordsville. She enjoyed gardening, farming with her husband, fishing and quilting.
Survivors include three children and spouses, Roger Young of Washington, Irene and husband John Young of Iowa City, Diane and husband Greg Singer of College Station, TX, four grandchildren, Lori Norton, James Singer, Alex and Lindsey Young, two great grandchildren, Kayla and Karly Norton and one sister, Wanda Johnson-Corey of Washington.
Preceding Frances in death were her parents and husband, Jim, five brothers, Charlie, Bill, Lloyd, Everett and Fred, and two sisters, Hazel and Garnet.
