Ferrell Baker

August 24, 1917 — July 21, 2012

A celebration of life for Ferrell F. Baker, 94 of Parkview Care Center, Wayland will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with Pastor Joe Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the Cottonwood Cemetery in rural Wayland. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 until 11:00 AM. A memorial fund has been established for the Cottonwood Church. Ferrell Baker died Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following a brief illness.

Ferrell Fern (Manning) Baker was born August 24, 1917 in Coppock, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Martha (Turner) Manning. She was united in marriage to Clifford M. Baker in Burlington. Ferrell was a member of the Coppock Church. She enjoyed going to garage sales, crocheting, taking care of her grandchildren, and baking, especially bread and cinnamon rolls.

Survivors include eleven children and spouses, Dwight (Mildred) Manning of Wayland, Iowa, Shirley (James) Butler of Donna, Texas, Kenny (Susan) Baker of Brighton, Iowa, Karen (Lonnie) Pickering of Wayland, Iowa, Edward (Kathy) Baker of Wayland, Iowa, Bess (Larry) Arduser of Wayland, Iowa, Ferrell (William) Ulin of Kalona, Iowa, Esther (Dave) Johnson of New London, Iowa, Sandy (Paul) Capps of Farmington, Iowa, Marilyn (Brad) Smothers of Riverside, Iowa, Connie (Richard) Berg of Coralville, Iowa, 35 grandchildren, 76 great grandchildren, and 19 great great grandchildren.

Preceding Ferrell in death were her parents, a daughter Carol Baker, husband Clifford Baker, and nine sisters and six brothers.
