Fern Elizabeth Anseth

Fern Elizabeth Anseth, 74, long time resident of Kalona, IA passed away on August 14, 2022 at Arden Courts in Geneva, IL after a brave battle with Alzheimer’s. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at Shiloh Nutmeg Cemetery south of Kalona.

Fern was born on December 3, 1947 in Bemidji, MN. Fern married her High School sweetheart Jim Anseth in Lakota, ND on July 22, 1966 and was a Domestic Engineer raising their four children in Aurora, IL. 

Fern was called Mom by many throughout her life. Her home was always open to friends and all of her kids' friends. Fern always had a listening ear, fresh pot of coffee, and cookies made for all those that stopped by to visit. Fern lived a life of service. Fern was a dedicated follower of Christ and spent several years dedicating herself to volunteering for her Church during her walk with God. 

Fern leaves behind four children Jeffrey Anseth of Bensenville, IL, Jennifer Anseth of Kalona, IA, Katy Anseth of Somonauk, IL and Amanda Mejia of Fort Myers, FL. Fern loved being Grandma and will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Lourdes, Mink, JT, Nehemiah, and Alyssa. 

Fern is survived by her Brother Glenn Huff (Leeann) of New Hope, MN and Sister JoAnna Meyer (Denny) of Duluth, MN along with several Nieces and Nephews. 

Fern was preceded in her death by her loving husband of 41 years Jim Anseth, Father and Mother Earl and Lois Erickson, her father and mother in-law, Maxine and Harold Anseth, Niece Jill Anseth, Nephew Max Anseth and Son in-law Felipe Mejia. 

Fern will be laid to rest with her husband Jim on July 22, 2023, their 57th Anniversary, at Nutmeg Cemetery in Kalona, IA. Services will be provided by Beatty & Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, IA
