Fannie Marie VanSant, 92 of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Coppock, died Monday, December 3, 2012 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 Friday, December 7, 2012 at the Cottonwood United Methodist Church in rural Wayland, with Pastor Betsey Neipert officiating. Burial will follow at the Cottonwood Cemetery in rural Wayland. Visitation will begin at Noon Thursday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland with family present from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. A memorial for the Cottonwood United Methodist Church and the Cottonwood Cemetery Association has been established.
Fannie Marie (Schantz) VanSant was born July 9, 1920 in rural Washington County, the daughter of Edward R. and Naomi (Christner) Schantz. She was united in marriage to Arlis I. VanSant on December 28, 1938 in Coppock, Iowa. Fannie worked as a CNA at Parkview Home in Wayland for 11 years. She was a member of the Cottonwood United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women. Fannie was the treasurer of the Coppock City Council for 30+ years. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, church activities and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Feddersen of Wayland, IA, Betty Jo Hornaday of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Diana (David) Johnson of Brighton, IA, a daughter in law, Charlene VanSant of Middletown, Iowa, one sister, Esther (Clarence, Sr.) Seagren of Dixon, IL, 19 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
Preceding Fannie in death were her parents, her husband, one son, Gary VanSant, one sister, Frances Custer and one brother, Edward "Bud" Schantz, Jr.
