Ezra “Buzz” Miller, 74, of Kalona, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 7,
2023, at his home north of Kalona. His body has been cremated and a memorial
service will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 10:30 AM at the Lower Deer
Creek Church. The family will greet friends Friday, February 10, from 4 – 8 PM at
the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A general memorial fund has been
established.
Ezra M. Miller was born March 7, 1948, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Clarence C.
and Mary (Mullet) Miller. He attended rural school and was baptized in his youth.
On August 18, 1967, he was united in marriage to Norma Bender at the Lower
Deer Creek Mennonite Church. Buzz had a passion for all things automotive which
started when he was young. He owned and operated Buzz’s 66 Station and Kalona
Auto, was a Regional Vice President for the Slick 50 company and worked for
Nichels Automotive. For many years Buzz and Norma were leaders in the Bible
Memory Program at Lower Deer Creek, facilitating trips to Twin Lakes Bible Camp
in Manson, with Buzz driving the bus. He was a kind and generous man, always
going out of his way to help others, even if he didn’t know them.
Survivors include his wife Norma of Kalona, children: Darin (Christine) Miller of
Maineville, OH, Bruce (Cindy) Miller of Riverside, IA, Eldy (April) Miller of Ely, IA,
Dellis (Michelle) Miller of Solon, IA, and Debbie Beyal of Kalona, IA, 13
grandchildren: Bella, Isaac, Sophie and Levi, Taylor, Owen and Brody, Elaina and
Eva, Elias, Addie and Emerson and Taylor B.
Preceding Buzz in death were his parents and seven siblings: Noah, Enos,
Clarence, Jr, Albert, Fanny Miller, Clara Yoder and Mamie Nisly
