Evelyn P. Roth, 90 of Mt. Pleasant, formally of Wayland, died Monday, October 8, 2012 at Park Place in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services have been set for 11:30 AM Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Wayland Mennonite Church with Pastor Kelly Slagel and Tamara Gill officiating. Burial will follow at the North Hill Cemetery. Family will recieve friends one hour prior to the service. Open visitation will be from 2-6:00 PM Wednesday at the church. Beatty Funeral Home in assisting with arrangements. A memorial has been established in the name of Evelyn Roth for the Wayland First Responders.
Evelyn was born January 2, 1922 in Fairfield, IA the daughter of Miles August and Wilda (Underhill) Rukgaber. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and Iowa Wesleyan College. She was united in marriage to Orval D. Roth February 20, 1949 in Mt. Pleasant.
She was a member of the Wayland Mennonite Church, Phi Mu Soritity and assistant director for the Sweet Atelines. She was a music major in college and taught school at Wayland and Brighton for several years.
Evelyn enjoyed playing the organ at church, reading, camping and wintering in Donna, TX.
Survivors include her children, Kenneth Roth and wife Teresa of Urbandale, IA and Shirley Wandling and husband Charles of Mt. Pleasant; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Orval February 14, 2007 and a brother Miles.
