Evelyn Quigley, 97 of Washington, died Sunday, January 07, 2007 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Funeral Services have been set for 1:30 PM Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Burial will be in the Cambrian Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Tuesday at the Funeral Home with family present from 6-8:00 in the evening. A general memorial in the name of Evelyn Quigley has been established.
She was born November 30, 1909 near Cotter, Iowa the daughter of Evan H. and Ruth (Peters) Arthur. She graduated from Cotter High School in 1929 and was united in marriage to Jesse D. Quigley on April 9, 1932 at the Rock Island Presbyterian Church.
She was a member of the Cotter Presbyterian Church, almost a fifty year member of the Eastern Star and a member of the Cotter Guild. She farmed with her husband in the Cotter and Ainsworth area and also worked at the State Café, Wolfs Greenhouse and the United Presbyterian Home. She moved to Washington in 1974 following the death of her husband and moved to the Washington Care Center in 2000.
Survivors include son Jack Quigley and wife Margaret of Washington, grandson Jay Quigley and wife Christal of Washington and two great grandsons Mason and Trevor.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Jesse in1973, three brothers Lee, Leonard and Lyle, two sisters Gwen Jones and Leona Mae Gardner.
