Eugene O. Boese, 73, of Wayland died Friday, March 11, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospital. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sugar Creek Mennonite Church, rural Wayland, with Pastors Nathan Luitjens and Rachelle Luitjens officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10 – 11 a.m. Inurnment will be at a later date. A memorial fund has been established for Sugar Creek Mennonite Church.
Eugene was born May 23, 1942 at Mt. Pleasant, IA, the son of Orie and Edith (Stutzman) Boese. He was united in marriage to Etta Mae Shutt August 5, 1978 and the couple later divorced. He was a lifelong resident of the Wayland community, graduating from Wayland High School in 1961 and driving school bus for WACO for many years. He enjoyed ham radio and his train sets and belonged to the Washington Model Railroad Club.
Survivors include his sister Jane (Edward) Miller of Kalona, nieces Jill (Bill) Hartsock and Allison (Kyle) Troyer of Kalona, a great nephew Braden Hartsock and two great nieces Elise Hartsock and Annie Troyer.
Preceding Eugene in death were his parents and aunts and uncles.
